I have a job!
A completely unexpected job. I barely expected to get employed my first semester of freshman year. Inexperienced college freshman don’t get jobs. There are more qualified upperclassmen all around us, after all.
But I lucked out! On the day I moved in, I, by complete chance, met one of the heads of the NU Procurement Office in the dining hall. Later I saw her again at the student employment fair. Some paperwork, some phone calls, some e-mails, and bam: I have a job. A job that no less than 230 people applied for!
If you know me, or my friends, or my career-oriented family, then you know I’m often like this:
So this is quite a stroke of luck for me. Extremely so; I need the professional experience for when I search for future jobs.
Thus, the gaps in my schedule will be filled with filing papers, sending faxes, and answering phones! I apologize in advance if I can’t update this blog quite as often. My goal is, at the very least, once a week! But, naturally, school and work come first.
9.50 an hour! HELLZ YEAH!
WOOT WOOT!
AH! VY! That’s amazingness, good for you! College jobs always sound fun. I thought about working at the Tutoring Center at my college (to help people edit their papers, etc, I speak some Spanish and could thus really help ESL students in low-level classes) but the head-honcho at the Tutoring Center hates. my. guts. . .with a burning passion. Lol.
So I could just do off-the-books-tutoring. For like seven bucks an hour. Or maybe charge by assignment.
BUT ANYWAY, good for you! And once a week blog updates are cool…I just need my weekly dose of comic-induced humor, please and thank you.
Ahaha thanks!! Aww… I’m sorry that you can’t get that job, it sounds so super cool! Outside tutoring would work too, though!
And thanks for understanding!… suddenly my life got a lot busier; it’s almost unbelievable.
Heck Yeah Vy!
Congrats! You’re very well qualified for the job! I think you can be very professional, which is what an office assistant needs to be, I suppose!
I got a job in my school’s costume shop! I make masks, sew costumes and organize fabric, etc. I love it! My boss and co-workers are all awesome.
I hope you’re enjoying Northeastern! I miss your craziness, we’re going to have to catch up during winter break!
We totally must catch up! You got a job at a costume shop?! Why are you so awesome? That seriously sounds like the greatest job ever; I’ve ALWAYS wanted to know how to sew! Thanks for thinking I can be professional… it’s definitely a step up from my old job at McDonald’s XD
