I HAVE A NEW FRIEND. I AM SO EXCITED I HAVE TO WRITE A POST ABOUT IT

LOOK AT THIS FRIEND I FOUND.

IT’S A CHARIZARD! A BIG, PLUSHIE, HONEST-TO-GOODNESS CHARIZARD.

Why am I so excited?

Well, I broke one of my mugs recently and wanted to replace it. If you’re me, that means going to the nearest thrift store to pick out a nice, hopefully unchipped cup that reads something like “Pikes Peak, Colorado” or “Fabulous, Las Vegas!”

So I stopped by my local Goodwill Outlet store for a nice dig. And when I say dig, I mean actually dig. While Goodwill stores are nicely laid out in pretty racks and all that, Goodwill Outlet stores are usually just huge bins of clothes and knickknacks for people to sift through.

Like this.

And, while browsing, I dug this fine fellow out of a bin of unmatched boots. Why was he there? Why had no one claimed him? Why was he abandoned in the first place? I was asking myself all of these things as I tenderly drew him out of the pile.

I was astonished. Stunned. Amazed. Overjoyed. I stood for a good two minutes just staring at the Charizard in total, utter amazement.

I unabashedly walked up to the front counter. There was no price tag on this poor Charizard. How much would he cost? 5 dollars? 10?

One dollar?! How could the price of this fine Charizard be so low? This guy obviously deserved better than this. I took him home in a blaze of glory.

So now I have a giant stuffed Charizard sitting in my room. A nice run through the washing machine and he’ll be good as new. Don’t worry– he has other friends to keep him company!

Yeah. I like my pokemon.

  1. I love that pic of you just staring at Charizard and the random’s like, “Is that girl ok?” lol!

It’s funny, cause I was just reading about Pokemon — http://cartoonoveranalyzations.com/2009/04/09/pokemon-explained/ — and it encouraged me to look up the list of episodes.

Apparently, all that childhood spent watching it, I only spent TWO SEASONS enthralled by the wonder that is Pokemon. I bowed out around the point that the 150 original pokemon became 250.

And there is still SO MUCH I haven’t seen. Plus, I’ve forgotten the names of a lot of the original group. Go figure.

    • No worries– I haven’t seen all the pokemon episodes either. As a kid, I watched the show around the time when they had 251 pokemon and was also in love with the 2nd generation games– so it was after around the 3rd gen when my obsession ended! I recently got back into it, though, as I just played the latest DS game. I will never stop loving pokemon!

      • I played 2nd generation before I stopped. I think it was gold version…

I really wanna dig up my old Game Boy Colour and start playing again, only I don’t remember what I did with it… but I know I kept it. It pops up occasionally, so hopefully I can find it. Pretty sure last game I played on it was Red, so…

It really only needs a battery change.

I’ve never played a DS though. So I don’t know what that would be like. I can’t imagine getting it for anything other than pokemon, though.

        • There are a couple of really great games for the DS, like Mariokart, The World Ends with You, and Kirby Canvas Curse. Old school Pokemon games are just as entertaining as the new ones, though! I just want to play Pokemon Crystal again, except the internal battery in the cartridge ran out. 😦

          • Ooh, I actually like Kirby! I first played as Kirby in Super Smash Bros. and loved it ever since. I just got Kirby’s Epic Yarn for Wii. It’s a yarn game…

I also got PokePark: Pikachu’s Adventure for it. PokePark was an actual theme park, you know. It existed in Japan for a few months before it shut down. So I read…
